the challenge
The Renáixer project is an initiative of Trampolín.design in which we participate to raise awareness among the people of the Grao neighborhood, in Valencia, about how the circular economy can be applied at a local level. For this we propose to develop a new biomaterial made from the remains of the burning of a Falla with which to create a construction game designed by @trampolin.design
the solution
Las Fallas in Valencia is a festivity in which sculptures are installed throughout the city and are finally burned, symbolizing the end of winter and the welcome of spring.
For this project we started with a bucket full of remains from the burning of the wooden sculpture with which, after separating all the metal and processing the remaining material, we created the base on which to investigate.
We were looking for a material that was resistant and easy to produce in order to manufacture the pieces with molds.
The final solution combining calcium sulfate also allowed us to use the same game pieces to draw and thus gain functionality and open other fields of expression through imagination. The project also included a workshop on biomaterials at the neighborhood public High School and another workshop with the members of the Falla J.J.Dómine in which part of the construction game pieces were produced.
